Abstrak : This paper deals with a nature of certain religion followed by Wong Samin or Wong Sikep, a Javanese community that lives by the northern coastline which also become the border between Central Java and East Java. This paper indicates that the Adam Religion becomes mysterious, because it could not be categorized as a complete religion as studied by Howey and Clarke (1981). According to Howey and Clarke, a religion at least has three elements: (a) there is a combination of belief system and attitude system, (b) professed collectively, (c) drawn towards an element that is considered holy. It can be concluded that the Adam religion professed by Wong Samin might be grouped as a religions that bases its belief on abstract ideas. This type is similar to Buddhism, Confucianism, and Sinthoism which prioritize ethics and good deeds rather than theological ideas.
