Abstrak :     For the people of Mentawai, Arat Sabulungan is a system of knowledge, value and norm to understand their environment. On the other side, Arat Sabulungan is a form of religious system that to believe supernatural like spirit, in the sky, earth, land, forest, water, or in the tree. Actually Arat Sabulungan is different with a religion and it is not from the religion that exist in Indonesia. It is more like an animism. Arat Sabulungan then has made a problem so that government has stopped it. It is interest to know how Arat Sabulungan in Mentawai has begun and stopped.
