Abstract
Freedom of expression that is more open after the fall of Suharto, has opened the door for many new sects of religion to come up. The study covers one of the new Islam sects called an-Nadzir. An-Nadzir is a unique sect of “Ahlul Bayt” that has developed since 2003 in South Sulawesi Indonesia. They refuse to be labeled as Shia or Sunni but they practice shalat with the same movement as Shia. Its uniqueness is laid on several characters : the followers must wear black surplice and lengthen and colour their hairs blonde. As In Shia, they have an awaited Imam, but their imam had already come to this earth and reincarnated in one of south Sulawesi great figures: Kahar Muzakkar. As they get oppressed, its followers have moved and established its own base and location in Mawang Village, Gowa, South Sulawesi Province. They try to live autonomously by establishing and managing their own economic area in cooperation with local inhabitants.
